The Spark: Identifying the Problem

For SOLI co-founders Alex and Niko, outdoor activities are a way of life—whether it’s a day at the beach, a picnic in the park, or cheering on a favorite sports team from the sidelines. But as anyone who spends time outdoors knows, too much sun exposure can quickly turn a pleasant day into a draining experience. The challenge is even greater when little ones are involved or when someone has sun sensitivities—like founder Niko’s wife, who struggles with vitiligo, a skin condition worsened by sun exposure

That’s when the idea struck: there had to be a better way to stay comfortable and protected from the elements without the hassle of cumbersome canopies or the disappointment of poorly designed beach tents.
